Small “prayer altars” made from paintings

“The eye altering, alters all” - William Blake

I began creating large paintings inspired by the stained-glass windows of both the grand cathedrals and the ancient, humble village churches I visited across Europe. Arrested by the reverential beauty of the sacred imagery within these spaces, I was reminded of how deeply we are shaped by—and participate in—the images we contemplate.

I have since begun printing these works on a smaller scale, hand-painting each print, and mounting them on wood embellished with handcrafted clay ornaments. They can be placed on a wall or near a candle, inviting one to move beyond ordinary reality into a more sacred and contemplative inner world.

This is a world where, as poet-painter William Blake wrote, “the eye altering alters all,” reminding us that the quality of attention we bring to our lives also shapes the world around us. Each Altar is 9” x 15” for inquiries click here.
