Shana Bloomstein

Shana Bloomstein is from Freedom, ME. Her exploration of movement began at the age of 3 with Lisa Newcomb at Forest Friends. She has spent her life as a mover and maker of art, in a performing arts and healing landscape. While attending Hampshire College, she was a student of artist and educator Nia Love, and went on to dance for Love in NYC for four years as an original member of Blacksmith's Daughter Dance Theatre Co. (now Love/Fort Co.) Shana studied African dance diaspora extensively, starting at a young age with Arthur Hall and Richard Gonzelas in ME and including studies in Senegal, West Africa with Babacar and Cheik N’Daye. She is a graduate of KVCC, Arizona School of Integrative Studies and Atmanada Yoga Teacher Training. She currently works as a PTA in Pediatrics at WCGH, privately at her business Cycles of Life Therapeutic Massage, and teaches Dance and Yoga. She is the artistic Director of Women’s Works, an annual offering in its 12th year this summer. Shana performs professionally as a solo artist and in collaboration with artists throughout New England. Her greatest creative inspiration and Joy is being a mother to her children Dawud and Nnenaya.
